The One Wherein I Grovel Some More

28 04 2009

This (for about 15 minutes tops, at a time) has been consuming nearly all my gaming time.

This (for about 15 minutes tops, at a time) has been consuming nearly all my "gaming time".

Hey all… I apologize sincerely for not updating in a very very long while.

The truth is, I haven’t played a lot of games. Or rather, I’ve had only about 5-10 minutes to game in any given time, so I’ve not been able to play anything substantial. Just some browser games (nothing AMAZING, but some good), and a little time with the 360 playing (and failing often with) Mega Man 9. (Which I love and hate simultaneously. Perhaps a story about why you should buy that game, if you haven’t, is in order in the near future.)

That, and what else… once I played “Worms” on the 360 (a series of which I’ve loved since the PSOne), and a little Geometry Wars 2. Other than that, nothing special.

I’ve got Left 4 Dead, and I’ll probably play that this week, if I can, and write about the new Survival mode soon. I’ve also gotten a beta key to Battlefield: Heroes, which I’ll have to check, but I’m pretty sure I can talk about the things they’ve publicly talked about on the blog. I’ve also gotten a beta for Sony’s FreeRealms, but it hasn’t been working so hot for me lately. I’ll let you know about that if it works. So plenty to talk about, once I can get a chance to actually play some stuff for any substantial period of time.

To those of you who’ve stuck it out and checked regularly to a couple times, since my last real article…I first of all thank you, and secondly, apologize. Please forgive the tardiness, and while I can’t say when to expect something, definitely DO expect something. 🙂

I hope to blow you all away with my next post. (No pressure there, self…just put that on out there…that’s cool.)

Thanks for paying attention, and I’ll catch up with y’all soon!

Yeah, I know…

9 04 2009

It’s been a while.  But given the impending death of a cat known for more than half my wife’s life, preparations for Good Friday and Easter, I’ve been a little busy.  Trust me, you all are not the only ones wondering about my writing…(sorry, Heather!)

But after Easter, I’m pretty sure you can expect something very soon.  In the meantime, imagine me as both people in the above picture, and enjoy these other failures as well:

Resident Evil (the O.G.) Unlockable in RE5

1 04 2009

So, after looking around many forums for clues to get all the medallions in RE5 (note: GameFAQs are your friend), I stumbled upon a cool tidbit that I found intriguing, over at Resident Evil Cheats.   If you enter a specific code, you can unlock an upscaled (though sadly, not truly HD) version of the original Resident Evil game, in its entirety.

While no new gameplay exists from the original, and like I said, it’s only a (granted,  more detailed) standard-definition copy, it’s fun to go back to see how the game has evolved over the years.

Essentially, to input the code you first need to beat the game (sorry, lazy people need not apply) and then after the credits, when the Capcom logo comes up at the end, you have to enter “Up, Down, X, Y, X, X, Down” and then hit Start (for PS3, it’s “Up, Down, Square, Triangle, Square, Square, Down” and then Start).

There is no “unlock sound”, and there is no indicator that anything has changed except in that, like “The Mercenaries” mode, there is a new game option underneath the entire menu.  (Just no ?????????????????, to know it was unlockable, is all…)

Again, if you’ve played the original Resident Evil, it’s nothing amazing or new.  Just nostalgia.  But if you haven’t, it’s worth checking out, even for a couple minutes.

Screenshots after the jump!

Oh, and P.S. – Any site saying you can unlock Ozwell Spencer (the dude in the wheelchair) with a code, or by completing any level in a certain amount of time, is lying.  It’s just an April Fool’s Day joke.  (Note, all of these posts were written today or yesterday…)  Not cool, people.  Some of us really like to unlock the secrets these games hold!
